Fisher House Foundation, Inc. Privacy Policy

PRIVACY POLICY

Fisher House Foundation (FHF) is committed to protecting the privacy of donors, website visitors, and families it serves. This policy describes the information that is collected and how it is used and protected.

Updates

FHF may modify this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on FHF’s websites. As material changes are made to the privacy policy that apply to personal information provided by users before the change was made, FHF will attempt to contact the user regarding the change.

GENERAL USER PRIVACY

Types of Information FHF Collects

1. Personal Information – Personal information includes information voluntarily submitted to include name, address, phone number, and email address. FHF uses a third-party payment processor to process payments and donations. In connection with the processing of such payments and donations, FHF may store the last four digits of a credit card.

2. Non-personal Information – FHF may collect non-personal information such as internet protocol addresses (“IP addresses”) and browsing behavior with cookies – if the user’s web browser permits.

Use of Information

Non-personal information is used in a collective manner to evaluate and improve FHF’s websites. FHF may participate in behavioral-based advertising. Specifically, a third party may use technology (e.g., cookies) to collect website activity enabling tailored advertising about FHF that may appear on other websites.
Personal information, including emails and physical addresses, is used to provide donors with acknowledgements, program updates, or ways you can help further the Fisher House mission. All marketing email messages from FHF contain a link to unsubscribe. If a user does not wish to receive marketing communications, they can opt out at any time or request to have their data deleted from FHF’s system. Requests can be submitted by emailing info@fisherhouse.org or calling 888-294-8560, and providing the full name, address, and phone number. Please note that some data may still be stored on third party sites that FHF does not control.

Donors with annual gifts of $25,000 or more will be publicly recognized in FHF’s annual report. Donors can opt out of this recognition. Sponsorship of FHF events may be publicly
recognized, as agreed upon in advance. Members of the Legacy Society may be recognized in print and online.

FHF treats personal information submitted offline, e.g., via regular mail, in the same manner that it treats personal information submitted online.

Sharing

Except for the public recognition mentioned above, FHF does not trade, share, or sell information with external organizations, except as authorized by the constituent, or as described in the terms of service with FHF vendors.

Security

To help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, FHF maintains physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the collected information. Browser connections to FHF servers are protected through an SSL certificate, which enables HTTPS secure connections. Administrator access to servers is secured by RSA public key authentication.

External Links

FHF websites may contain links to other websites. When clicking on one of these links, the user may enter another site that is governed by that site’s privacy policy.

SCHOLARSHIP AND HERO PROGRAMS APPLICANTS’ PRIVACY

FHF collects contact information from applicants for scholarship programs as well as other identifying information such as high school attended or date of birth. Eligibility documentation, to include a DD214, benefit number from U.S. Uniformed Services Identification and Privilege Card, and sponsor name, is collected to ensure eligibility for a scholarship. Information is shared with third party vendors for program delivery and to communicate about application status. After winners are determined and contacted, only selected scholarship recipient information is securely stored for ongoing program administration.

Applicants for the Hero Miles or Hotels for Heroes program, usually through a caseworker or Fisher House manager, will be asked for relationship status with an eligible service member or veteran. FHF collects information about the service member including branch of service, status, medical center assigned to, and injury/illness status, as well as contact information, such as name, address, and phone number, and identifying information like date of birth and gender.

Contact and other information is shared with third parties, such as airlines and hotels, for program delivery, and to conduct internal recordkeeping, reporting, and data analysis.

CONTENT SUBMISSION POLICY

By submitting a testimonial, quote, video, or other submission through the fisherhouse.org website (and any sub-domain associated with that URL), or any third-party website operated by FHF, the user agrees it may be made public and is granting FHF the right to edit, copy, and reproduce such content in any lawful manner including but not limited to appeals, stewardship messages, and promotional materials.

MINOR PRIVACY POLICY

FHF will not knowingly maintain information from anyone under 13 unless submitted by a parent or guardian such as through Hero Programs. If FHF learns that information is being stored for someone under the age of 13, it will be deleted immediately.
