This team of friends formed from numerous years of Run Disney Princess Weekends together with Julie’s Joyful Journeys. We all have military connections - We are Veterans, Active Duty, Retired, Wives, and Friends of Air Force and Space Force members. Our excitement and love of Disney Snacks (yes, the SNACKS) drew us to this years summer, virtual, run Disney series. When we discovered the selected charity for the series was Fisher House, we knew we all had to participate.
A little info on the Fisher House is below and once you read it, you’ll know why it pulled at our heart and why we are all excited to raise money to support such an amazing cause. We are all doing different things to raise funds but our progress will be recorded here - thanks to our go-getter tech savy, Mary Bell!
Fisher House is a "home away from home" where families of wounded, ill or injured veterans and service members - from all five branches of our Armed Forces - can stay at no cost while their loved ones receive treatment away from home. A long-term stay in a hospital, often thousands of miles from home, can lead to unmanageable burdens and significant expenses for family members needing to be a part of their loved one’s healing process. Since 1990, Fisher House has provided 10 million days of free lodging and has served 400,000 families.
